Natanel Sebbag

MDCM

Executive Position: VP Communications

Hello, my name is Natanel Sebbag and I am currently a third year medical student at McGill.

Growing up I haven’t had much exposure to mental health nor did I entirely understand the long lasting effects it can have on a person’s life or to the people around them. The more I have come to see its prevalence and the way it can affect anyone at any point in their life makes it a really important component of my medical education. Furthermore, knowing that I didn’t have much experience in this field before having started medical school, I have taken it upon myself to further get involved and expose myself to as much of it as possible, whether it be seeking to interact with people going through mental health related issues through my clinical rotations, volunteering as a counselor for children with disabilities or getting involved with the CMH. CMH is unique however, in that it offers a path by which different professionals and future professionals can exchange  ideas and methods to improve the health care system and the care we provide. CMH is a platform where different professionals are able to share their experiences, their knowledge and their ‘savoir faire’. The diversified perspectives and ideas brought up through the CMH have already helped strengthen my understanding of what it truly means to have a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to treating patients.

My future goals are to become a Family Physician and be able to properly address both the mental and physical health issues in a holistic fashion on a personal level for my future patients but also on a public health level as well. CMH has already and will surely continue to mold me into the physician I hope to become in order to provide the best care for my future patients.
