Georgia Moore

B.A. Psychology

Hello! My name is Georgia Moore, and I am currently a second-year psychology student at McGill. I have a strong passion for working in mental healthcare and have aspirations to become a psychologist. My experience to-date has included volunteer roles with several mental healthcare organizations, including The Sick Kids Centre for Mental Health in Toronto, where I led an inpatient Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) homework group and The Holland Bloorview Rehabilitation Centre in Toronto, where I worked with children with a broad range of physical and mental abilities.

I am familiar with DBT, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices. I currently volunteer with The Youth Outreach Program and Best Buddies program at McGill. Collaborative mental healthcare means a number of things to me, namely the ability to aid people using different models to bring together a variety of professional perspectives in order to provide a more coordinated and effective set of services.  In my opinion, it is of the upmost importance that mental healthcare be inclusive of a number of professions (mental health practitioners, care givers, medical professionals, etc.) in order to give the patient the best care possible.

My current career goals include psychology and law.  Whatever career I decide to pursue, I know I will work with people. My short-term goal for this coming year is to get a job that relates to my current educational field.
