PhD Clinical Psychology

To me, collaborative mental health care means professionals from interdisciplinary backgrounds working together to merge knowledge and expertise in order provide the best possible care to individuals who are experiencing mental health issues. One of my main goals as a future psychologist is to get involved in helping to improve service delivery in mental health through policy change. I am interested in finding ways to improve the efficiency of mental health care, and I think that a collaborative approach is an important starting point for developing ideas and forging connections.

My research aims to understand and develop interventions for improving poor insight, or lack of awareness of various aspects of illness, in people with schizophrenia. Clinically, I have worked with adolescents and adults in diverse settings, providing both individual and group therapy. On a more personal side, I am passionately dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with severe mental illness through awareness campaigns and advocacy work in the community. Every year, I organize a fundraising walk in my hometown of Ottawa to raise awareness and fight the stigma of schizophrenia and serious mental illness.
