B.A. Cognitive Sciences & Philosophy

Hi, my name is Phoebe Zhao and I am an undergraduate student studying cognitive sciences and philosophy. I am passionate about mental healthcare and learning about the brain and the ties between anatomy and function. My few years at McGill has taught me that our cognitive processes are highly interdisciplinary and that mental healthcare can be approached from so many different streams! This past year especially has allowed me to reflect on how to take care of my own health, both physical and mental, and has especially highlighted the importance of mindfulness practices. I am currently involved in community outreach programs which promote active listening strategies. Collaborative mental healthcare means bringing awareness to current issues in mental healthcare through the unique perspectives of people from all different backgrounds of study. I am especially interested in neuroplasticity and the benefits of mindfulness on attentional processes. In the future I hope to learn more and apply this knowledge towards my own research and work towards reducing the stigma towards mental health outreach within my community.
