MScA Occupational Therapy
My interests in mental health revolve around knowledge translation and the recovery model; implementing research and policy into practice. As an OT, I see the opportunity for recovery in meaningful occupation, and fostering a sense of belonging and connection. I find incredible value in diverse arts-based activities that foster creativity and self-exploration, and am intrigued by the power of personal narrative, self-authorship, and mindfulness-based interventions. In the future, I hope to focus my work in with clients who face addictions, PTSD and anxiety disorders, mood and personality disorders, and recovery from abuse.

With the new federal mental health strategy, it’s an exciting time to be working in mental health, and I see interprofessional collaboration at the heart of its success. When considering an individual or society's well-being, we really stand to benefit from using a holistic, biopsychosocial and client-centered approach, and this requires the partnership of many professionals -- but perhaps above all, the mental health consumers themselves. It is a privilege to be part of such an intentional and reflective group as CMH McGill, and I look forward to learning more about each profession’s role in attempt to strengthen our quality of care.
