I have worked as a student researcher at the McGill Group for Suicide Studies at the Douglas Mental Health Research Institute for eight months. Currently I am involved in a project relating to sleep stages of patients and their health at the MNI. To me, collaborative mental healthcare means to incorporate translational medicine and consider what would be the best outcome and way to improve one's mental health and safety; it is an opportunity for disciplines related to mental health to re-examine and improve healthcare systems in the future. My goal is to use my background and future experiences in mental healthcare and scientific research to pursue a career in translational research of psychiatric disorders. My hope is that the diverse perspectives of mental health would influence my interests and perspectives in the future.
