Alexia Korban

BA Psychology

Hi! My name is Alexia and I’m currently in my last year as an undergraduate student at McGill University. I’m majoring in Psychology and also doing a double minor in Social Studies of Medicine and Behavioral Science. While completing my studies, I’m working at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), which consists of multiple hospitals across Montreal. The provision of adequate healthcare to patients in need is a deep concern of mine, evident from the fact that both the academic and professional aspects of my life are centered on healthcare. This is what initially motivated me to join CMH. I truly believe that successful and sustainable treatment is only made possible by forging strong alliances between all the different healthcare providers in a patient’s life. As I work towards becoming a clinical psychologist, I feel it’s important to keep in mind that my goal as a future mental healthcare provider should not be to identify solutions and meet all my patients’ needs autonomously. Instead, my career should encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between specialists across many different fields to derive holistic treatment plans targeting different aspects that contribute to overall wellbeing.
