BA Psychology
I’m a third year undergraduate, completing my BA in psychology. I want to pursue a Masters and Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis on adult psychopathology. Although mental health affects nearly everybody, I find it is still very overlooked in a lot of communities. Implementing collaborative mental health care in real-world practice is, I think, really important to the advancement of mental health care. The more fields that become involved in the research and understanding of mental health, the more awareness and the deeper of an understanding we will gain, which to me is invaluable. It's important to educate ourselves and others about mental health and its effects because I believe this will play a role in decreasing the stigma associated with psychological disorders and other mental health issues. Once we start to reduce this stigma we can start to try and normalize talking about our own mental health issues without fear of judgement, and to seek help when we feel it's necessary. I am very happy to be a part of the CMH group because it offers the opportunity to learn a lot about mental health from other people in different areas of study and with varying degrees of knowledge and experience. CMH is a great way to begin the conversation about mental health.
