Melanie Levy
MSW Social Work
Executive Position: President
To me, collaborative mental healthcare is an essential sharing of knowledge and collaborative decision-making in order to create a holistic approach to client treatment. My own multidisciplinary background in mental healthcare has informed my belief in the importance of forming professional relationships between disciplines to better understand and address our clients’ needs. CMH creates an open dialogue of diverse professional and service user perspectives that is crucial to improving our healthcare system.
I have a BSc in Psychology and a MSc in Psychiatry from McGill, and I am currently completing my Masters in Social Work. I have had the opportunity to complete a field placement in the Adult Mental Health clinic at CLSC St-Laurent. As I complete the MSW program, I am in a field placement at the Alzheimer Society of Montreal, providing support services to informal caregivers. I am also the facilitator of the Creative Arts Group within the Cummings Centre Community Mental Health Program. I have a particular interest in pursuing a career in adult mental health and geriatric social work. I also focus on the roles of social support and coping strategies in managing chronic illness.
