Anita Chander

Biomedical Sciences

Hello, my name is Anita Chander and I’m a first year student in the Biomedical Sciences program at McGill.

Although I do not have a background in mental healthcare in the clinical sense, I’ve had the opportunity throughout the past few years to work with seniors in a retirement home who have developed mental and neurological disorders. From the experiences I had there, I saw how deeply physical health was connected to mental health and well-being. These experiences are what interested me to join CMH and to learn more about how this idea was applied in other medical and healthcare environments. To me, collaborative mental health care is about establishing the importance of mental health in a variety of settings, just like the retirement home.

In the future, I’d like to attend medical school so that I can learn more about and eventually contribute to the advocation of mental healthcare in different medical environments.
