Philip Boivin

B.A. Psychology

My name is Philip Boivin and I am a second-year student majoring in psychology and minoring in marketing. I am thrilled to be a core member in the Collaborative Mental Health team at McGill, because I am passionate about mental health reform and recognizing the importance of open discussions of this topic. In school, I was always most interested with clinical psychology and the steps needed to rehabilitate those who suffer from mental illnesses. My interest in psychology has fostered hobbies, including frequent access to the existing literature, listening to psychology ted talks and lectures and networking with friends and colleagues. As a student, my knowledge and expertise are limited, which brought me to CMH, where I am able to hone my skills and engage with like-minded individuals. CMH is a fantastic opportunity to put into practice what I have learnt in the past while further expanding my knowledge on mental health. I am glad to have found a safe space where I am able to translate my interest in psychology into discussions, research, and debates.

Collaborative mental healthcare is important to me, because given our current global situation, I believe it is imperative to destigmatize mental health and to implement a stronger system that benefits individuals who are struggling. We have all experienced a mental health step back this year, big or small. My goal is to play a role in the future of mental healthcare and enforce a system that is well-adapted and assist those in need during crises such as the one we are in.
