BA Psychology, Behavioural Science & Art History

I think any field can benefit from an interdisciplinary approach. It is imperative that the constantly changing platform of mental health be examined from as many standpoints as possible. The nature of psychology itself has historically been rooted in disciplines ranging from medicine, to humanities, to the arts, to philosophy. It’s important that the pillars which the entire discipline rests on are re-examined thoughtfully; pigeonholing both research and practice in mental health care is a backwards step in a direction that should be as diverse as the population it aims to help.

I am involved with volunteering at Concordia’s Centre for the Arts and Human Development where I am shadowing a Drama Therapist lead sessions with young adults with developmental disabilities. In the past, I have done volunteer research assistance work in the Department of Educational Psychology at McGill, looking at the impact of parental attitudes on children with maladaptive conditions.

I am very interested in pursuing graduate studies in Art Therapy, specifically doing clinical research on the effectiveness of arts-based practice. I’m also interested in clinical practice and psychotherapy.
