MA Counselling Psychology
In order for professionals working in the mental health field to collaborate effectively, there is a need for greater understanding, communication, and support between disciplines. McGill’s Student Association for Collaborative Mental Healthcare meets this need. Through engaging intensively with other mental health professionals, we are able to develop a greater understanding of the lenses through which different practitioners assess and understand clients, and subsequently provide better care to our own clients. The group serves as a space for hands-on learning, lively discussion and debate, as well as workshops both within the group and given to the community. This network strengthens my practice through providing a greater depth of understanding of the different systems that a client may be involved in, and how each functions and affects the client.
I have a BA in Psychology, and experience in youth work, crisis line and hospital settings, and in Vancouver’s downtown eastside. I am currently completing my MA in Counselling Psychology at McGill. I hold strong interests in couples and families, crisis and suicidality, and indigenous mental health, and hope to further pursue these areas of interest in my future career.
