Emily Yung
MD CM Medicine
Originally from Markham, Ontario, I completed my Honours Bachelor in Health Science at Western University. Then, I completed my Master of Science in Psychiatry at McGill where I worked with Dr. Nancy Low investigating the association of childhood adversity and metabolic syndrome in people with mood disorders. During my masters, I collaborated with a team of students to create the McGill Peer Support Centre, a free confidential drop-in listening service offered by highly trained students. Thereafter, I worked for two years as the Mental Health Education Coordinator of McGill Mental Health Service, developinghe McGill Mental Health Hub website funded by Bell Let’s Talk, offering workshops on mental health and Mental Health First Aid training across campus, and providing psychoeducation groups for students through the Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) program. I am interested in mental health because people and the stories that make them who they are fascinate me. I really enjoy piecing together the diverse experiences people share and understanding how this may contribute to their health. My career goal is to first and foremost, individually care for people as a future physician and more broadly, understand the evolving health needs of people and work with others to advocate for equitable care and improved health care systems.
