Collaborative mental healthcare is important to me as a student, researcher, and future mental health professional. Mental health is complex, and is therefore best addressed through a variety different perspectives. I joined CMH because it is important to me to learn about mental health through the perspectives of others in different fields, and so that I could be part of a network of individuals who are all passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience with the goal of improving the future of mental healthcare. Currently, my research is focused on childhood anxiety and emotion regulation. I am particularly interested in how anxiety affects learning in children and adolescents. During my undergraduate degree, I researched how anxiety affects test performance in undergraduate students, and this sparked my interest in the topic. In the future, I would ideally find myself in a position where I am able to work with children as a mental health practitioner, in addition to continuing to carry out research.
